We introduce our young improvisers to the magic of improvised theatre by running a lot of silly warm-up games and short-form games to help everyone get to know each other and feel comfortable playing together. Improv is a collaborative and supportive art form, so many of our exercises focus on listening to our scene partner and validating and building on their choices. Improv doesn't use props or costumes, so we work on creating characters and props with our imaginations, and making them real to our audiences with our movements and facial expressions. Improv does not have to be funny, but it often is, even if only by accident, so we also laugh loads. Most of all we have a lot of FUN! There is an opportunity for a showcase performance at the end of term, if the group wishes to do that.
